If someone asked me what advice I would give to young mothers, this is what I would tell them:
Lyrics:
You’re a mother with your hands full
Your grocery cart is loaded high
But each day you are trying, you’re really trying
to be happy and survive
On those days when you feel weary
And it feels hard just to breathe
Don’t yearn for the time,
Go out and find a place to get out and be free
Cause it’s okay to spread your wings and fly
It’s okay to put your hair down and to heave a sigh
Step away from your sorrow
Tomorrow you will still be there
But for a moment be alone and cry
You may feel your children need you
And that you can’t get time away
But you feel so alone, you’re always alone
and so you think you have to stay
But when life gets overwhelming
And you’re forgetting who you are
Well don’t be afraid
It’s okay for you to remember who you are!
And it’s okay to spread your wings and fly
It’s okay to put your hair down and to heave a sigh
Step away from your sorrow
Tomorrow you will still be there
But for a moment be alone and cry
It’s not that you’re deserting them
You just need some time away
And you’re still a good, good mother
Even when your kids are driving you insane!
And it’s okay to spread your wings and fly
It’s okay to put your hair down and to heave a sigh
Step away from your sorrow
Tomorrow you will still be there
But for a moment, for a moment be alone and cry
Yes for a moment be alone and cry
