As I look forward to a new decade, for a moment I thought I would look back and reminisce about the last 10 years.
Ten years ago (in the year 2000):
I had 3 children and I was expecting my 4th.
We were living in Provo Utah, finishing up our basement. (I thought that house would always be big enough for all of us!)
I was serving as the Ward Music Chairmen, I was also the organist and Choir director, as well as playing for a Stake Choir.
My husband was the Elder’s Quorum president.
My sister came to stay with us soon after our 4th child was born. (I loved having her there with us!)
My best friend lived in the house next door, and we regularly traded off babysitting and doing preschool together
My oldest son was just starting Primary, and got his tonsils taken out that year.
I was teaching piano lessons to several of my neighbors children.
I had just finished writing a bunch of piano songs and decided to start a website.
It’s been a long time ago, and life has changed quite a bit for me. Some of the surprises I had in the next 10 years…
I had 3 more children (totaling 7!)
We moved to a larger 7 bedroom home in Springville and then moved again just three years later, to a smaller home (more manageable) in South Jordan.
My best friend moved to Florida. =(
I have written over 200 songs.
I have 2 CD’s that I produced and helped record. (2005 and 2008)
I had the opportunity to sing at BYU’s Women’s Conference in 2008
I am again serving as Choir Director, YW music leader, and this year I have the opportunity to serve on the Relief Society committee, helping with a new Pursuit of Excellence program
My husband is serving as the Scout Master’s Assistant and helps with Deacon’s quorum.
I am also working on my first full scale musical.
Through the years, I’ve also had some interesting challenges that have helped change my priorities and look towards my Savior more completely. As I’ve had more opportunities to serve, the happier and more fulfilled I am. I look forward to what this next decade will bring!
