When the prophet says do – I’ve always tried to do.When President Nelson encouraged the youth to do a 7-day social media fast, I didn’t have to do it, but I felt like I should, and I fasted for 7 days. It was a good experience and I learned a lot from it.
One thing I learned was that I think I use social media in a good way. I missed being able to share pictures of my son’s wedding, and be able to try and be inspirational through the social media sites. I felt good about my use of social media.
Now, President Nelson is encouraging all the women to do a 10-day media fast. At first, I didn’t want to do it. I had already done the media fast, and I had learned from it. I didn’t feel like I needed to.
But then, I woke up this morning and realized I had to. In order to not follow the prophet, I had to justify and say why his words didn’t apply to me. I don’t want to be like that. I finally decided, even if it meant doing the same thing I’d done before, which I didn’t like. I still needed to follow the prophet.
So I did. I put up the post saying that I was going to do the 10 day fast.
I turned off all my webpages with Facebook on them and took off the messenger ap from my phone.
I hopped in the shower and the inspiration came.
I needed to keep writing in my blog. It’s where I need to share the things that are going on in my life. I still need to tell my stories and what’s happening. There’s so much right now.
SO – I won’t be posting or sharing on social media sites, but I will post them here, on my blog.
It’s something that God has wanted me to do for awhile, and I’ve just had a hard time starting. It’s interesting that he didn’t give me that idea until after I decided to go ahead with the challenge to stay off media for the 10 days.
I think that’s how God works. We have to follow and do – and THEN he gives us more info that helps to know how it will work for us.
Okay, so that’s all I’m saying for now, but I will make an effort this week, to start writing more regularly here!
Love you all! Thanks for your support!
