The last several years have been pretty difficult – dealing with divorce, moving from my home, financial struggles, court proceedings, health concerns, and trying to be a single mother, all of which I never could have foreseen or hoped would be a part of my life. Instead of celebrating my 25th wedding anniversary, and enjoying having all seven of my children in school, I’m trying to figure out who I am, what God’s plan is for me and how I can earn an income as a single parent.
I’m grateful for my testimony and the strength that comes from knowing I’m a child of God and that He still loves me regardless of the circumstances I’m finding myself in. Without that strength, I know that I wouldn’t be able to feel the happiness and peace that has continued to accompany me throughout the trials and struggles I’ve been through.
This year I wrote two songs for the 2018 LDS mutual theme. The first song was called “Peace in Me”, which I wrote when I learned that the theme was based on the scripture in D&C 19:23, “Learn of me and listen to my words. Walk in the meekness of my Spirit and you shall have peace in me.”
Later, I created a second song “Peace in Christ” when I realized this was the exact wording for the mutual theme. Both songs have brought me comfort and helped me get through difficult times.
I hope they will bring some hope, comfort and healing to you, as they have to me during these difficult trials and circumstances that continue to come and plague our world today. I can testify that there is a peace that comes by centering our lives on our Savior. I’m grateful for my knowledge that God has a plan for us and that He can give us comfort and strength no matter what trials and adversities come.
Enjoy the Music!
