Since the beginning of this week was a holiday, I thought it would be fun to take the kids to the mall. I hardly ever do that- I’m just really not a shopper. We gave my oldest son a gift card for Christmas, and so with the terrible weather we’d been having, I thought it might be a fun activity to do, and to take all the kids.
It was so much fun! The first store we went in was a Sears store. We walked in, and immediately my kids saw the escalator! What a thrill. I let them go up and down the escalator a few times, before we explored the other stores in the mall.
Immediately after we came out of Sears, there was an area with a bunch of kiddie rides. My youngest LOVES cars. He was so excited, and so we spent a little bit of change letting him ride on the kiddie car. The smile he had on his face was priceless.
Afterwards, we discovered the food court. Since this made everyone hungry, I bought a 12 inch Subway sandwich and had them cut it up in 6 slices. With 6 waters, it was quite a fiasco, but the kids loved it. Afterwards we went to See’s Candies. I wanted to buy them those little candy sticks that they use to sell for 10 cents each. Unfortunately, I guess they don’t sell them anymore, so we left after they gave us the free chocolate samples.
Dillards had the best escalators by far, and my kids had to go up all 3 floors and down to the basement, begging me to go again and again. So funny! The fashion place mall, has mostly clothes, shoes, and makeup type stores, but on one of the displays just inside a Comfort Sleep type store, my son saw a flying remote helicopter. He was so excited to buy that with his gift card.
All in all it was a lot of fun. After we were getting ready to head back through Sears to get back to our car, my baby saw the Kiddie Cars again. I tried to zoom past them holding his stroller angled up so he couldn’t get out. HE LEAPED OUT! I couldn’t believe he took that kind of flying leap! I thought he would be hurt, but he got right up and ran over to the car, and jumped in. It was so shocking (and funny) that I couldn’t help but fork over some more change and let him ride it again. No other of my kids could get away with something like that so many times- but he was just so cute!!!
I have to say, that even though I really didn’t get much accomplished on projects or music yesterday, the fun I had with my kids was actually VERY satisfying and fulfilling. I think it helped that all my kids had fun and weren’t arguing. All of them told me that we should go to the mall more often!
Now with my kids back in school, I finished up a couple of my musical projects. I wanted to try submitted my “We Believe” song as a single on ITunes. I was surprised to find that I had to have an “album cover” for each single- even though it’s not part of an album. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do, but after thinking about it for a couple of days, I spent the morning working on a picture I could upload. What do you think? This is the first picture I’ve made with Blender to show anybody. I think it turned out alright.
I also finished up the last changes to the hymn arrangement I did of “Precious Savior, Dear Redeemer”. It was very helpful to sing it with the choir on Sunday, and fine tune it. We’ll be singing it for our Ward Conference this next Sunday. I wish we’d had a couple of weeks to practice it, but I love our choir, and I think they’ll do okay.
Oh- one last note- I was released on Sunday from my Relief Society calling on the Enrichment committee. It was such a great experience to help with the Pursuit of Excellence program, it’s been a little different to think about goals and not be encouraging the sisters right along with me. I do hope they continue to keep up with their goals. They all did such a great job.
