It’s almost December! It’s amazing to me how fast these months fly by. Of course I know why. There’s always so much to do to get ready for Christmas. Everything seems to culminate at the end of the year- dance recitals, Christmas parties for church and for school, as well as end of the year commencements. My kids will be off-track all during December. Last year, we decided to make Christmas presents for each member of our family. It was a really neat thing to do, and I imagine we’ll remember that year for a very long time, but I don’t think I want to do that again for awhile. Still I’m thinking creatively about making a little Christmas skit that my kids could participate in. Maybe a musical version of “Christmas Oranges”. I’m not sure yet, but I think it would help the time to go by faster for the kids. It’s kind of funny how slow the month can go for them, and at the same exact time, it’s moving like lightning for me. I guess it’s all perception.
I’m guessing when January hits, it will be the slowest month ever for me. My last month of pregnancy, and the hustle and bustle of Christmas over- isn’t that a recipe for “slowness”?
We enjoyed Thanksgiving at grandparents, and have enjoyed many of our holiday traditions like watching “The Polar Express” (love that movie) and eating dessert for dinner Thanksgiving day. Puzzles are always fun, and my daughter has been making pumpkin pies, pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin bread, and pumpkin fudge out of her Halloween pumpkin which she named “Fred”. I am guessing this will be a new tradition, as she loves to cook.
I am enjoying the season. “This is the season to sing” quoting from one of my Christmas songs. I hope everyone is feeling the happiness of the season. There’s a lot of turmoil in the world, but there is also much to celebrate. Especially the birth of our Savior. If not for that one reason alone, I’m going to try to enjoy the season! Happy Holidays!
