We woke up at 5:31 New York time (3:30 a.m. Utah time), got up and took the 6:30 Liberty ferry over to liberty walk. The kids really enjoyed the ferry boat ride.
We didn’t want to take the time or pay the fees to go over to the actual island, but we were able to see at least the backside of Lady Liberty. Pretty cool.
After we got our “parking spot” cleaned up, we drove 3 hours up to the monument that marked where Joseph Smith and Emma lived for a time while Joseph was translating the Book of Mormon. This was also the place where the priesthood was restored, somewhere near the Susquehannah River. We were again blessed with a cool opportunity. 4 missionaries happened to be having a meeting there, and they told us how we could actually go and walk right by the banks of the river.
This was a picture I took of the beautiful river. It was truly a spiritual place. We were so glad to have that opportunity.
We drove the last 3 hours to our KOA campsite (We were SO glad to be back at a KOA campsite!) and the rest of the day was setting up camp, swimming, laundry dinner, more laundry and resting. It will be so nice not to have to break camp right away!
