Today I’ve been trying to get back and organized again. It felt great to get my kitchen and refrigerator cleaned out, some shopping done, and some bills paid. Right now I’m not working, since it’s the summer in between school sessions, but I’m seriously wondering if there’s some way I can work and provide for my family from home. It’s hard to be the provider, homemaker, housecleaner, caretaker and everything else when I’m working out of the home. It’s hard to be a single mother period. I guess I’m still getting used to it.
As I was feeling a little overwhelmed by my circumstances, guess who showed up on my doorstep… these wonderful guys from my church ward and neighborhood. I guess they had heard (or seen) the big yellow spots of dead grass all over my front lawn. I haven’t known how to fix it, and these guys went right to work, cleaning out drain pipes, digging up trenches and trying to fix leaky pipes.
I vaguely recalled my missionary son telling me about another drainpipe on the side of the house… totally spaced it. I guess it split. Thankfully, these guys think they can fix it. I’m so grateful for awesome friends and neighbors who are willing to lend a hand. Some days I honestly don’t know what I’d do without them.
