Today I was released from being the Ward Choir director. I just looked back to when I was called, and it was just over 3 years ago. It seemed like less than that. I will sure miss it. It’s my most favorite calling. I was even working on a new choir song to begin next week. I’m not sure if we’ll get to do it or not, but either way I’ll still finish it up and put it on my website.
It’s made me think about the kind of music that I have been putting on my website that last 3 years. It’s almost all been entirely choir music. It’s what I have been doing. I am guessing that I probably won’t put on as many choir songs anymore, but I might be adding more of my personal songs. I’m excited about that. (I guess I’ve already told you that)
I got called to be a Primary teacher to my son’s 8 year old class. This will also mean I’ll also need to be released from playing the piano in Relief Society. My other calling is playing the organ, and even a new assistant organist was called, so I won’t be playing as often. It’s all quite a big change for me. That’s okay. I’ve been very much enjoying my ‘easy’ music callings, and not having to think much about them. This new calling will take some extra preparation. It will be good for me. I’m sad not to be able to go to Relief Society and Sunday School any more, but then, I’ve had a lot of years getting to go, and it’s time for me to take a turn in the primary.
New callings always stretch us a little bit, and I’m sure this will be a good stretch for me. Wish me luck!
