Last night our church had a wonderful activity for the Relief Society (the women). We had a Cafe Rio style potluck in the beautiful back yard of one of my neighbors. The atmosphere was wonderful, and the decorations, lights, and food were delightful.
For one of the activities, our Relief Society president asked the missionaries to speak to us. The purpose, to encourage us to be better missionaries to the friends and neighbors around us. The two missionaries decided to do some role playing and try to show us just how easy it could be, to be a good missionary.
After they had done a role-playing exercise, they invited any of us to get up there and practice being missionaries as well. Brittany just barely got off of her mission, less than a year ago, and volunteered. We knew that she would be an excellent candidate for the request. One other sister was brave enough to be her unsuspecting friend, and they started to “role-play”. Only Brittany wasn’t acting. Her mother was at my table, telling us that this how she actually was. “You should see her every time that we are at the grocery store!”
Brittany just radiates the spirit. It is impossible not to see her, and just not want to know more. She is ALWAYS happy. She LOVES the gospel. She LOVES to go to the temple, and gains great peace there. In her role-playing, Brittany invited her “friend” to come to the temple – (“you know, the big white building” – and she put the tops of her fingers together to make a spire) She knew of an open house for a temple in Payson, they could actually walk through right now if they wanted to see what the inside of one looked like.
As we watched Brittany sharing her testimony, her real testimony, there was not a dry eye anywhere around. We all could feel the spirit so strong. I was strengthened and so inspired by her example. I want to be that kind of missionary. I want to be an example, just by living the gospel and loving it. Brittany is such an inspirational person to me. LOVE her!!! Thanks Brittany.
