Our Stake Conference was wonderful! Some of the highlights and inspiration I got from the meeting were:
1. Definite desire to share the gospel. So much of the messages were geared around missionary work. I have been so blessed by the gospel. It’s something I’ve already had a desire to share.
2. Al Fox glows! (With the spirit that is) I was so inspired by her videos and the LDS Living magazine article about her. She looked like she glowed in the picture on the magazine, but literally she does. She has got an amazing spirit about her that just shines. How do I know? Because she came to our Stake Conference for the Saturday session. She married someone in our stake! I’m excited about that because I would love to get to know her better. She is an inspiration. I would love to be like her (except without the tattoos of course…)
3. This one really had nothing to do with what anybody said, but of course that’s how the spirit works- I feel a great desire– to be happy! I know it sounds totally weird, but it’s true. I think I’ve been unable to feel happy because I was waiting for this and that to change so I COULD be happy. That’s ridiculous. I can choose to be happy right now. I don’t have to wait for anything, or anyone around me to change that. This might mean that I’ll have to excuse myself if others want to complain or be negative, but I could do that! I could leave! I can make the decision now, to be positive and to be happy! I’m thrilled that I have that freedom! Surely life will be better, just because I’ve made that decision– to be happy!
I’m also SO thrilled that I will get to sing a new song that I just wrote (about just that) called, “The Bright Side of Life” at BYU Women’s Conference May 2nd. Here is the info for those that might get to attend, and hear me sing! =)
Friday, May 2nd, 11am-noon Ballroom, Wilkinson Center, BYU
“Choosing Thus the Kinder Plan” Hymn no.233
Here is the little blurb about the class:
We all slip up and blunder from time to time and so
do others. “The next time you’re tempted to groan, you
might try to laugh instead. It will extend your life and
make the lives of all those around you more enjoyable”
(Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin). How can self-control and
putting ourselves in the other person’s shoes change
our perspective and help us be more understanding?
How can we use appropriate humor to diffuse stress in
awkward situations?
Hope I’ll see some of you there! =)
