This year I picked the word Miracle as my word for the year. Starting now, I want to share all the little Miracles that happen in my life. This way I can remember them better, and also by bringing more attention to them, maybe I can see even more!
Last week my son was cleaning out his hamster cage, and lost a tiny screw that attached the water and feeding trough. He looked everywhere, but couldn’t find it. He came upstairs to ask if I had any other tiny screws that might work. My screw collection is pretty pathetic, but after looking, decided that maybe we could still find the one that was lost.
We looked all over the floor, but unfortunately couldn’t see it. The only other place my son thought it might be, was in the trash. Unfortunately, the trash can was filled to the top and my son had recently dumped all the bedding and grossness of the cage. It seemed impossible that we’d ever be able to find it.
I believe in miracles though, and prayed that we could find it. I started digging. I began by pulling out contents of the trash, one by one. I stuck them in a different bag, hoping I hadn’t missed a tiny screw in the process. Almost three quarters of the way through, my son was giving up hope. He was sure if it had been there, it would have been in the top. I wondered if such a tiny screw could have been in the bottom and didn’t like the idea of having to go through the contents of the bottom. However, a second later I found it. It was in an aluminum foil container and was clean and protected from everything that had fallen above. It was so teeny tiny that I was surprised I’d even found it, especially since I didn’t even know for sure what I was looking for!
Miracles happen! Sometimes they take a bit of work (like digging through the trash…), but they do happen!
