I wanted to share a little report about how my media fast went. You might have noticed, that I didn’t even write in my blog last week. I didn’t want to be on my computer. It was just nice to feel the difference between when my phone and computer seemed to be controlling me, and when I was more in control of how I used them. It felt good to be more balanced.
I don’t usually get on social media to compare myself to others or to get depressed, but I did check it – way too much. That’s what I was trying to cut down on, and for the most part, I did learn some things that have been helping me as I’ve eased back into using social media again.
For one, I’m still trying to keep the control in my hands, and not give it away to my computers and phone. I’ve continued to keep my phone up on the wall, especially when there’s really no need for me to be on it. It’s kept me from feeling the need to “check” it all the time. Putting “checking” time onto my schedule has also been helpful. I get the things I need to do first, and then I can check it – for a pre-determined period of time.
I’m also working on reading the Book of Mormon before the end of the year. It’s a lot to read, but I’ve loved having the focus of marking my scriptures about Christ. It’s amazing how much I’ve marked in each chapter. It keeps standing out, that when we follow the commandments, God blesses us. That’s certainly been true as I’ve tried to follow the counsel of the prophet and do the things He’s told us to do.
Hope things are going well for you! I’m going to try to keep up the blog again! =)
