This last week, I had the opportunity (a second time!) to visit the Relief Society building and sing for members of a General Women’s presidency.
The young women in our ward were asked to sing the song that Teri Garritson had written, “Be Strong and of Good Courage”, for the General Young Women’s presidency. I was so excited that my two daughters would have the same kind of opportunity that I had two years ago. I was excited when Teri asked if I would be willing to accompany them at the piano. Yay!
I was especially excited to see Sister Dibb again. I think of her a lot and her special strength. She recognized me right away and gave me a wonderful hug. I just love her!
Sister Dalton was amazing. She said that the girls looked like angels. Our young women sang for her, and then afterwards Sister Dalton had each of the girls tell her their names and she gave each of them a special hug. She gave each of them very special attention, and then bore her testimony to them. Afterwards she had Sister Dibb and Sister Cook also bore their testimonies. What an amazing opportunity.
Sister Dalton thanked our girls – and Teri Garritson, for writing and singing this song for her. She said it would give her some additional courage and faith for the tasks that she was preparing for. She said it was like angels being sent down just to help bear her up.
Even though I hadn’t written the song, I felt grateful for the series of events that had led to Teri writing that song. I was grateful for the spirit’s promptings in encouraging her to write it.
