The choir sang two Easter songs today. One of them was my arrangement of “I Stand All Amazed”. I thought it sounded beautiful. They did such a good job. I’m grateful that we can participate in our meetings and in some way, praise God as we do so for all He has done for us through His atonement and resurrection.
Last Friday I had the opportunity to attend a (reenactment?) of the Passover Dinner. It was a ward activity, with two of our scriptorian Elders leading. It was the second time I got to participate in a program like this and I was asked to lead the singing.
The song I got to lead was called, “Dayenu”. It has many verses about how Moses split the sea and brought the Children of Israel out of bondage. Following each verse is a chorus of “Dayenu”‘s which are fun to sing and have a fun rhythm. I don’t often get to lead up-tempo singing at church, but it was really fun. Last time I led the singing, following the program, I asked our Brother Norman, what “Dayenu” meant. He said it meant “That would have been enough”. Knowing what the main Chorus then meant, the song took on a greater meaning, as we sang each verse, covering all the different miracles that God performed for the Israelite people, and after each one singing “How that would have been enough”.
I was impressed with the praise and worship and symbolism of their dinner. I recognize how often God does things for us, even everyday, and it’s a good reminder that with each one, I need to be thankful and not take a single one for granted.
If God had just blessed me to be married to the wonderful man I am, That would have been enough
If God had blessed me with even one (to 6) child(ren), that would have been enough,
If God had blessed me to have a house big enough to just fit the beds and kitchen and a bathroom in, that would have been enough
If God had blessed me with only one good friend, that would have been enough
If God had blessed me with just one talent, that would have been enough
(the list goes on and on…)
I feel so blessed!
