Okay, so I just went looking for some “free LDS choir sheet music” (I googled it) and saw that my link was listed 4th. It was a link to my links page- for some other resource. I clicked on the link to my website. It’s probably the first time I’ve even looked at my website in a really long time. I couldn’t believe that the last update I wrote was in May! Wow. I’m surprised. I have been writing songs, but I haven’t posted them. Not because I don’t want to share them, but because they have been for either special occasions or purposes that I’m not ready to unveil to the world yet.
I like writing in a blog, but I’ve waited to write when I have something that I think might be interesting or inspirational to share. Sometimes it’s a bummer that I can’t just share the little things about how my day went, or the funny thing that one of my kids did that day.
So, I’m making a New Year’s resolution to blog more. I’d like to blog at least once a week, but maybe even more. Not everything I write will be inspirational. I hope that’s okay. You’ll all see that I’m quite human. In fact, I’ll probably let a lot of people down. =)
Still, every once and a while, miracles do happen in our home. This week, I’ve been trying to figure out how to do jobs for the next year. I have been using a system (bonus points and negatives) that has worked really well, but my kids always try to get away with the least amount of work. Well, as part of my new system, I assigned two of my children to each of our 3 bathrooms in the house. Because they weren’t going to be switching which bathroom they cleaned, as we did before, my kids asked if they could decorate them up (tastefully) and make them their own. I didn’t see a problem with that, so I said they could, and immediately chaos unleashed! I have never seen a bunch of harder working kids EVER cleaning bathrooms! It’s something I don’t think I’ve ever seen before. I didn’t even ASK them to clean! (I was going to wait until the next year to begin.) It has been amazing. I hope their motivation to keep their bathroom clean lasts. I’m not betting on it, but I’m definitely enjoying it today…
