One of the projects I’m working on is Completing my Personal Progress before the program ends in 2020. I’m currently the Young Women’s secretary in my ward and in charge of helping with Personal Progress.
In trying to help the girls, I felt inspired to start a FaceBook group for not only the girls in my ward, but also to encourage and inspire any others that might have the same goal.
It was a scary move for me, to put my goals on the Internet and start telling people what I’m working on, but it’s actually becoming a really good thing. It’s giving me a young women project to complete (Divine Nature) and it’s giving me opportunities to serve in the ways I love best – helping people complete their goals and inspiring people to be who God wants them to be.
This week I’m working on Individual Worth #2 – Learning about Patriarchal Blessings.
After reading in “True to the Faith” and a wonderful conference address about Patriarchal blessings, I read through my own patriarchal blessing again.
I love my blessing! It’s something I read often and incorporate as much as I can.
The question I am supposed to discuss with a parent or Church leader is understanding how patriarchal blessings can help teach you of your worth and identity and be a guide throughout your life.
Certainly my patriarchal blessing has been that for me. Just reading through my blessing has helped me to realize that God has a plan for me and that I have a specific purpose and mission. How could I not feel valued when I know that God knows me and who I am?
My Patriarchal blessing has helped to be a guide as I’ve humbled myself to work on things that otherwise I wouldn’t have focused on – finding Charity, having patience, sharing my talents. There’s still things I need to work on, but I know that as I do incorporate the suggestions and advice from my blessing, I’m blessed in ways I never would have expected. It’s been a great guide for me, and helps me to know God loves me and has a plan for me, even when life has gotten turned around through divorce and continual disappointments. I know that God is still there and He is guiding and preparing me for whatever is ahead.
If you or someone you know would like to be a part of this group and complete the young women’s personal progress program with me, please join the FaceBook group. We’d love to have you! Here’s the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/279132729590321/
